The Commission scolaire de la Baie-James, the only French school board in the Nord-du-Québec region, as well as the Centre d’études collégiales à Chibougamau, the only college-level educational institution of the region, cover a vast territory of 350 000 km2. It includes the municipalities of Chapais, Chibougamau, Lebel-sur-Quévillon, Matagami, as well as the municipality of Baie-James, which comprises the communities of Valcanton, Villebois and Radisson. The Baie-James territory is also home to eight of the nine Cree communities.
Partners of the recognition of prior learning and competencies services are Emploi-Québec (MESS), the Centre d’études collégiales à Chibougamau (CECC), the Centre de formation générale des adultes de la Baie-James (CFGA), the Centre de formation professionnelle de la Jamésie (CFPJ) and the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sports regional offices in Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Nord-du-Québec.
